Calling all young people interested in working with children! Do you want to learn more about childcare, train to become a counselor at Park Camps, or do you have dreams of one day being a teacher?
Through Park’s Leadership Development camp, you will become certified in CPR and First Aid. Campers will receive extensive training in childcare, including discovering fun games and activities to do with kids, what to do in an emergency, and even tips on how to get a babysitting job. Participants will gain hands-on experience working with young children at Park Camps.
During the second week of the camp, through service, campers are given the opportunity to support an organization’s mission, developing characteristics necessary to be effective leaders while working collaboratively and respectfully with others. Participants will travel off campus to work with different organizations and will be provided the space and time for reflection upon their return. Volunteer opportunities might include community greening through Civic Works’ Community Lot Team, volunteering at the Maryland Food Bank, or working at Paul’s Place soup kitchen and free clothing store.
***Subject to change based on the needs of the organizations
After completing the 2-week Leadership Development program, campers may apply to intern for the remainder of the summer.
*Note: Completing the Leadership program does not guarantee that the participants will be hired as future paid counselors at Park Camps.
