Development Assistant

THE POSITION

The Park School of Baltimore has an opening for a Development Assistant to offer administrative, event, and program support for the Development Office. This person will assist with a wide variety of development activities, including a full range of moderate to complex administrative assignments for the Director of Development and other members of the Development Office team. This is a part-time, 12-month, non-exempt position.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES — DEVELOPMENT OFFICE

  • Provide administrative support to Development Office
    • Serve as a point of contact for Development Office
    • Answer phone calls and direct as appropriate
    • Monitor Development Office email as needed
  • Perform records maintenance in Raiser’s Edge
  • Prepare and send tribute cards and condolence cards
  • Perform general office duties as needed

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES — PROGRAM/EVENT SUPPORT

  • Provide support for The Park Fund, Middle and Lower School Grandparents’ Visiting Days, Grandparents’ Committee, Night School, and other events and programs as needed; event/program preparation, execution, and follow-up duties include but are not limited to:
    • Scheduling meetings and events
    • Booking event space
    • Managing invitations and attendance lists
    • Ordering catering
    • Managing print and electronic mailings
    • Preparing nametags
    • Attending select events to support Development Office team

WORK HOURS AND DAYS

  • Monday through Friday for six hours per day (between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.)
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events and meetings
  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week from mid-April through end of May

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience
  • Knowledge of Veracross and Raiser’s Edge is a plus

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Extensive experience and proficiency in using standard MS office
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Proficiency with databases
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of office administrative procedures and ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, work well under pressure, and manage competing priorities
  • Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality and professionalism

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Required to remain stationary for long periods of time
  • Infrequent light physical effort required
