Students will get the chance to experience different character work, vocal exploration, and lots of improvisational exercises. Each class will begin with an exciting energy and/or vocal warm-up. Students will also get the opportunity to work with some text; both monologues and scene work. The goal for this course is for each student to grab an opportunity to "color outside of the lines"! This is the chance for all of us to let imagination and reality come together. We'll explore characters we never thought we could be, and play in situations we never thought we'd find ourselves in. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! All characters welcome. Just come with an open mind, and be ready for just....plain....fun! |

One of the world’s oldest games is more popular than ever! Your children will learn all the fundamentals including set up, movement of pieces, and strategy. It will be taught in a “building block” method (learning a new piece at a time). In this world of technological gadgets and games, nothing will replace actually touching and moving pieces with your own hands without all the “bells and whistles”. |

Math Club members will solve problems and play games involving logic, spatial reasoning, estimation and probability. Join us as we ponder strategies to make seemingly difficult problems easier. |

Learn the basics of Nepali dance. Students will experience Nepali culture by learning traditional and contemporary Nepali dance. The traditional dances will include Sherpa Dance (Himalayan dance), and Parbate Dance (contemporary Kathmandu Valley Dance). |

Study and learn the martial art Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). The art of BJJ is a grappling martial art that emphasizes technique and leverage over strength and power in an effort to control your opponent. BJJ is a great way for children to channel their energies, to learn about themselves and their bodies, and to develop worthwhile character traits such as self-confidence, self-discipline, humility and team camaraderie. To truly gain the wonderful benefits of BJJ join instructor Courtney Rollins, BJJ purple belt under Lee Synkowski of Team Balance BJJ, twice a week, Tuesdays & Thursdays 3pm-4pm in the Dance Studio. All equipment and apparel will be provided. All you need to bring is a great attitude. See you on the mats!!
This twice per week class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays for a total of 26 times. You must sign up for both days. The cost of $260 will include a gi (similar to a karate uniform) and a mouth guard. Both are required for participation each week. Emergency medical form required. |

In this new take on Discovery Science, we will focus our learning specifically on the biological world. We will take advantage of the wonderful tools and equipment available in the lower school science room to learn how to conduct organized experiments, as well as spend some time outdoors in the spring observing the living world around us. Lessons will include topics such as, but not limited to: classification, photosynthesis, decomposition, food webs, microscopes, and a handful of lessons on marine biology. During the last few weeks, students will have the chance to design their own experiments, keep data, and find conclusions.

Philosophy encourages the love of knowledge and appreciation for “the art of clear thinking”. We are very excited by the idea of sharing this love of learning and thinking with the bright young minds of our third and fourth grade children at Park. The Philosophy club will use Marietta McCarty’s book, Little Big Minds: Sharing Philosophy with Kids, as the basis for discussions. During the weekly sessions, the young philosophers will keep a journal to jot down their thoughts, draw images and pictures of ideas, or create a poem to reflect their feelings. The children will also listen to music and take trips outside to encourage “clear thinking” and reflections. |

TGAS instructors Grades 1-3 8 weeks (Begins after Spring Break) Taking Golf After School is a junior golf enrichment program that teaches students the proper fundamentals of golf, such as swing, basic golf etiquette and the golf game itself in a fun, safe environment. A flyer is also available outside of the Lower School Office. A separate form will be emailed after you register on the Park School website. ** This is the only class that will not be billed directly to your child’s account. |

Are you new to knitting, or do you have some experience and would like to learn more? This may be just the class for you. Beginners will make their own needles, learn to knit and knit a simple felted project. Everyone will dye their own yarn. Experienced knitters will polish their skills, experiment with knitting on different sized needles, and work on their own projects at their own pace, learning purling, binding off, and following a pattern.
**There is an additional $20 materials fee. |

With this hands-on sensory based curriculum, children will try new healthy foods, learn about where their food comes from, and learn basic nutritional concepts in a way that is exciting and fun! Also, foods from various countries and traditions will be prepared and celebrated. In the past, this class has gotten rave reviews from even the fussiest eaters! **There is an additional $20 materials fee. |

This co-ed sports clinic will be designed to teach the basic fundamentals of soccer. The students will participate in various training drills and games designed to develop balance, coordination and agility. Sportsmanship and cooperative work will be emphasized. If your 3rd grader is more experienced with activities other than soccer and not among the biggest for their grade, this is the perfect fit. |

The class will teach the fundamentals of jump rope and building choreographed routine. We will begin with basic jump rope moves, and work toward more advanced skills, including Free Style Tricks, Pair Routines, Double Dutch and much more! Bring a smile and we will teach you to jump rope. Jump ropes provided. Participants should dress to exercise and wear supportive sneakers. |

Join us on this after school adventure as we become junior gardeners! We will experiment with planting and harvesting in Park’s organic vegetable garden, and get ideas for starting your very own garden at home. We will learn the importance of composting and how to begin doing it. We will discover how gardens can inspire us with their beauty, color and delicious nature, and lend us ideas for the many creative arts/crafts, writing and tasting projects we will do together. Whether you know a thing or two about gardening already or are just getting started, we welcome you and your ideas! Together, we can both learn from and help grow Park School’s exciting garden initiative. |
