This summer, Park Camps is offering a new STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) Focus Camp for students ages 10-17. Separate from Park’s core Summer Camps (Cubs, Bears, and Bruins), this exciting new focus camp offers participants two weeks of immersion in a STEAM topic: NXT robotics. With approximately five hours devoted to STEAM exploration each day, as well as additional activities on Park’s beautiful 100-acre campus, both indoors and out (including pool time!), campers will enjoy this engaging and challenging program.
The 2-week STEAM Focus Camp covers:
NXT Robotics: June 26 to July 7 (ages 10-15)
|Dates||STEAM Focus Camp||Time||Age||Price|
|June 26–July 7||NXT Robotics||8:30 a.m.–4 p.m.||10–15||$840 per 2-week camp|
Linked to STEAM education, this two-week Focus Camp for students ages 10-15 centers on LEGO’s NXT robotics platform to introduce beginners (and more experienced users) to robot design and programming. Campers will build multiple NXT robots, integrate sensors, and learn icon-driven programming that incorporates math, science, and computer coding. Small student teams will have their robots dancing, reading environmental cues, and navigating obstacle courses by the session’s end. Design thinking leads campers to understand, break down, and solve engineering problems with tenacity and imagination. Individual computers and NXT robot kits are provided.
In addition to NXT robotics, campers will also participate in a variety of activities on Park’s beautiful 100-acre campus, both indoors and out. They will experience the Appalachian Challenge Course, swim in our pool, walk in the stream, hike in the woods, garden, and burn off energy in outdoor games on our playgrounds, courtyards, and fields.
Note: The previously sheduled STEAM Focus Camps on Digital Sound and Coding have been cancelled.
