Park C.I.T. / Leadership Development

Calling all young people interested in working with children! Do you want to learn more about childcare, train to become a counselor at Park Camps, or do you have dreams of one day being a teacher?

Through Park’s Counselor-in-Training (C.I.T.)/Leadership Development camp, you will become certified in CPR and First Aid, and will receive extensive childcare training, including discovering fun games and activities to do with kids, what to do in an emergency, and even tips on how to get a babysitting job. Participants will gain hands-on experience working with young children at Park Camps.

During the second week of the camp, through service, C.I.T.’s are given the opportunity to support an organization’s mission, developing characteristics necessary to be effective leaders while working collaboratively and respectfully with others. Guided by Park School’s Director of Service Learning and Civic Engagement, Rommel Loria, participants will travel off campus to work with different organizations, and will be provided the space and time for reflection upon their return. Volunteer opportunities might include community greening through Civic Works’ Community Lot Team, volunteering at the Maryland Food Bank, or working at Paul’s Place soup kitchen and free clothing store.

***Subject to change based on the needs of the organizations.

After completing the 2-week C.I.T./Leadership Development program, C.I.T.'s may apply to intern for the remainder of the summer at Park Camps.
