Apply to The Park School

The Park School welcomes applications for all grades. Main entry points are First Year Kindergarten, Second Year Kindergarten, and Grades 1, 6, and 9. Children must be four years old by September 1 to enroll in First Year Kindergarten.

A note to current Park employees, parents, and alumni: Alumni and current parents may use their Veracross logins to access the Admission Portal. To begin an application for your child, skip the inquiry and go directly to the Admission Portal.

Applying to Kindergartens and Grade 1

Step 1: Parent interviews & TOURs 

Schedule parent interviews to occur between September 18 and January 12. 
You may schedule your Parent Interview by using the scheduling tools in the Admission Portal or by contacting our office directly at 410-339-4130. Our office hours are Monday–Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Step 2: Student Visits

Student visits must be scheduled to occur on a date following the parent visit and submission of an application. Children spend two hours in a Group Observation Visit on Saturdays in December and January:

  • December 2, 9
  • January 6, 13, 20, 27

Step 3: Application

Return completed admission application to the Admission Office. Families who have created Admission Portal accounts with Park may complete the form online in the Admission Portal. To create an account in the Admission Portal, fill out our Inquiry Form, or call our office at 410-339-4130.

Step 5: Application Fee

Submit the $50 fee with the application. For students who applied last year, the reapplication fee is $30.

Step 6: Biographical Statement

Parents’ insights and perspectives on their children are very helpful to us. Write a brief description of your child, including such information as the significant events and influences in his/her life, any special interests and talents, particular weaknesses, or educational needs.

What aspects of his/her development do you think are the most successful? Which are the least? Are there any special circumstances about your child, or about your aspirations for your child, which contribute to your wish for him/her to become a student at Park School?

Biographical statements may be submitted via the Admission Portal, or emailed to admission@parkschool.net.

Step 7: Common Referral Form

Submit Common Referral Form to applicant’s current teacher(s) on or about November 15. Park should receive a copy of all referral forms by January 15.

COMMON REFERRAL FORM: Kindergarten – Grade 1

Step 8: ASSESSMENT

The 30-minute Gesell Developmental Assessment is administered individually on Saturdays in December and January:

  • December 2, 9
  • January 6, 13, 20, 27

To schedule an assessment for your child, please call the Admission Office at 410-339-4130.

Please note: Gesell Developmental Assessment must be scheduled on a Saturday different from the Group Observation Visit.

Step 9: Review

Admission decisions are based on careful assessment of the student’s ability to achieve academic, social, and personal success at Park. Each decision is made on an individual basis. We consider classroom performance and disposition toward learning, test results, special talents or abilities, and attendance and conduct records.

Decision letters are mailed on February 16.

Applying to Grades 2 through 5

COMMON REFERRAL FORM: Grades 2 – 5

Step 8: Testing

Students applying to grades 2–5 take the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test and the Stanford Achievement Test.  Alternatively, students applying to grade 5 may take the Independent School Entrance Examination.

The Otis-Lennon School Ability Test and the Stanford Achievement Test are administered at Park 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on a Saturday in January. Call 410-339-4130 to register for these tests.

The Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) is administered at Park 8:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. on Saturdays in November and January. Students may also take the ISEE on different dates at other area test sites. However, they must be taken by the end of January for an admission decision to be made by February 16. Test results should be sent directly to Park School by including our school code, 210812, on the ISEE registration form. To register, visit www.iseetest.org or call 1-800-446-0320.
