Have you been wondering how to create that fancy handwriting with the thick/thin lines? Learn the basics of italic calligraphy. Each child will be provided with calligraphy pens and practice paper, as well as parchment paper for special projects. After learning to master the position of the pen (the calligrapher's secret!) and all the letters, children will be able to create special pieces, such as letters to loved ones, copies of favorite poems, quotes, etc. Two things to consider:
  • Letters formed by left-handed writers will look different from the samples (they are right-handed), which may be a bit frustrating
  • Calligraphy, although not technically cursive, may be challenging for children who struggle with cursive writing
